It is an intra-planting triazole fungicide that possesses protective, therapeutic and eradicative functions. It is a sterol demethylation inhibitor and can be absorbed by the tissues of crops such as roots, stems and leaves, and then transported upwards. The results of indoor activity tests and field efficacy experiments show that it has a good control effect on grape white rot disease.

Physical and Chemical Properties

The appearance is colorless crystalline powder, with a melting point of 57.6 – 60.3℃; vapor pressure: 0.017 mPa at 20℃, 0.37 mPa at 25℃; KowLog P = 3.72 (at pH 5.7, 25℃); solubility: 73 mg/L in water (at 25℃); in organic solvents (g/L, at 25℃): 730 in ethanol, 770 in acetone, 610 in toluene, 24 in n-hexane, 400 in n-octanol; stability: stable in water, remains stable even at 350℃, does not decompose. 10% emulsified oil of penconazole appears as a light yellow transparent liquid; emulsion stability is qualified; flash point is approximately 55℃; stable in cold, hot storage and at room temperature storage.

Toxicity

The acute oral LD50 of penconazole pure drug in rats is 2125 mg/kg, the acute dermal LD50 is > 3000 mg/kg, and the acute inhalation LC50 (4h) is > 4000 mg/m³. It has no irritation to the eyes and skin of rabbits; the skin of guinea pigs is not sensitizing. The maximum no-effect dose for the subchronic toxicity test of male rats fed for 3 months is 300 ppm; the maximum no-effect dose for the chronic feeding toxicity test of rats for 2 years is 3.8 mg/kg·d. No teratogenic, mutagenic or carcinogenic effects were observed in the test animals. The 10% emulsified solution of penconazole has the same acute oral and acute dermal LD50 > 2000 mg/kg and acute inhalation LC50 (4h) > 4000 mg/m³. It has no irritation to the eyes and skin of rabbits; the skin of guinea pigs is not sensitizing. Penconazole pure drug and 10% emulsified solution are both low-toxicity fungicides.
